Tetapi yg akan saya sampaikan berikut bukan kecelakaan VA, yang akan saya sampaikan bahwa JALAN TOL DI INDONESIA TIDAK AMANOleh: Gatot Rusbintardjo (Pemerhati konstruksi jalan raya dan jalan KA)

Mengapa jalan Tol di Indonesia tidak aman?

1. Perkerasan jalan dibuat dari perkerasan kaku yaitu dengan Beton Semen. Perkerasan dg Beton Semen tidak mempunyai Skid Resistance atau kecil skid resistance-nya. Skid resistance adalah daya cengkeram ban dengan permukaan perkerasan jalan. Karena skid resistennya kecil atau bahkan nol, maka apabila mobil melaju dengan kecepatan tinggi dan mengerem, mobil tidak segera berhenti karena tidak ada daya cengkeram yg memadai antara ban dan permukaan perkerasan jakan. Mobil akan meluncur cukup jauh sebelum berhenti. sehingga sering terdengar mobil menabrak truck atau mobil lain yang ada didepannya. Pethatiksn: Jalan beton bukan jalan untuk kecepatan tinggi! Sehingga salah membangun jalan Tol dengan perkerasan kaku.

2. Ditengah jalan Tol diberi pembatas dinding beton yg Tebal dan kokoh. Akibarnya jika ada mobil yg selip atau kemudinya berbelok maka akan menabrak tembok beton dan karena kecepatannya tinggi, maka akibatnya fatal seperti yg dialami mobil VA dan juga dosen Fak. Teknik Sipil UNDIP beberapa waktu yang lalu. Jalan Tol yang aman ditengahnya (mediannya) harus berupa rumput dengan lebar min. 2 x 5 meter dengan kelandaian 5%. (Seperti jalan Tol Jagorawi pada awal dibuatnya). Dengan demikian jika ada sopir mengantuk atau mobil pecah ban, mobil tidak menabrak tembok beton, tetapi meluncur diatas rumput yg landai dan akhirnya berhenti dg selamat.

Sekali lagi ingat!! Jalan Tol di Indonesia adalah jalan yang tidak aman terutama untuk kecepatan tinggi.
Taatilah rambu pembatas kecepatan.
Jangan bangga dapat menempuh waktu 3.5 dari Semarang ke Surabaya. Tapi banggalah dapat membawa keluarga dengan selamat dari Semarang ke Surabaya walaupun harus ditempuh dalam waktu lebih dari 4.5 jam.

Advantages of Asphalt Roads

Asphalt has an attractive price point, even as prices have slowly begun to creep up over time. Like concrete, asphalt is 100% recyclable. When melted down, it can be used again to create new roadways.

New asphalt is quieter than concrete. Though it creates a smooth drive, it also boasts better traction and skid resistance.

Since asphalt is black, it utilizes the natural heat from the sun to help keep the roads clear after storms. Heat absorbing into asphalt creates an ideal atmosphere for snow melt and moisture evaporation.

Asphalt is ideal for rural roadways because of the ease of maintenance and repair. Budgeting for small roadway repairs or patching is much simpler and faster than replacing entire slabs of roadways on less heavily trafficked areas such as country roads.

Disadvantages

The process of melting asphalt creates greenhouses gasses, which contribute to environmental pollution. This happens regardless of new production or recycling.

Asphalt is a cheaper and faster solution for short-term projects, but the repairs are sometimes just as extensive as concrete. With only a 10-year lifespan, asphalt must be re-laid or repaired on a much more regular basis.

Hal ini yang pernah admin pelajari sekilas ketika kuliah bahwa perkerasan beton masalahnya adalah :

– Berisik
– Mahal
– Abrasi terhadap ban mobil

Dan sama sekali tidak disebutkan mengenai skid resistance. Menurut artikel di atas, perkerasan beton akan berbahaya kalau hujan dan salju karena hydroplanning, akan tetapi kondisi cuaca ketika kecelakaan, cerah.

Hal lain pernah dipelajari Admin adalah : Jalan tol seharusnya tidak dibuat benar – benar lurus, tapi melengkung dengan radius ratusan kilometer sehingga
+ Driver tidak nge-blank. Seringkali kalau lurus sungguhan, driver tidak ada variasi sehingga ngeblank
+ Kalau setelah beberapa kilometer harus mengubah setir, driver akan tidak nge-blank
Yang saya tidak tahu, apakah jalan tol ini dibuat dengan melengkung

Mengenai pembatas yang malah berbahaya, saya setuju dengan artikel berbahasa Indonesia di atas. akan tetapi kita tahu kalau yang menjadi masalah adalah UUD
